My
dearly loved kitten José lost his way on Saturday. Because of this site,
he was found!!! A huge thank you to Pets On The Net, and a very very
special thank you to the finders of José, Arne and Franz...
Last Saturday I was at a friend's
wedding (ironically she was the one who helped me get my cat in
the first place!). I became a tad concerned when he didn't appear
for breakfast in the morning and even more concerned when
he wasn't around that evening either. Being a very
people-friendly cat and quite a homebody, I would not accept he
had gone far and thought he probably just got inadvertently locked
up in someone's house or garage over Easter (he has been known to
climb through the neighbour's bedroom window for some early
morning affection!).
I did all the typical things
like checking with the neighbours, searching endlessly as I called
out his name around the neighbourhood, and put about 30
hand-written flyers in people's letterboxes! It was thanks to
your site that
José came home. The SPCA
directed me to your website and I first took a look at the 'Found'
ads for anything describing my little
José. When that failed to show anything, I made my own posting...
... at the same time the finders of José put up a posting of their
own! As I waited anxiously for something to come from my ad, I
returned to the 'Found' site and read something that sounded
suspiciously like my cat. After a couple of emails back and
fourth with the finders, I jumped in a taxi and within an hour
José was safely home after quite a little adventure through the
Wellington city streets on a Saturday night!
I live a couple of blocks back from the end of Courtenay Place
- Wellington's bustling nightlife area. It appears my cat decided
to venture further than normal and follow the crowds of people,
but all the traffic and noise disorientated him and he lost his
way. Thankfully, that lovely couple found him and reluctantly
took him home in their car as they feared he might have got into
some trouble in town on a Saturday night! Being on the other side
of the city, my cat had NO IDEA how to get back, so the couple
took care of him until they could return him to his rightful
owner.
I can't express how grateful I am to
Pets on the Net. Thank you so much for helping bring my little
José home.
Kind
regards,
Lisa
P.S. This is a picture of
José
being as lazy as ever just a few hours after returning home!

Tiger,
lost kitten reunited... |

What worked?

Thank
you very, very much. I posted the ad
on petsonthenet
this
morning and
Tiger's
finder called the council, looked up Pets on the Net at their
suggestion and bingo!
Thanks again, sooooooo rapt.
PS I
am telling everyone about you!
Julie
From the finders of Tiger...
We noticed a wee
cat wandering around on Sunday night, spotted it still about on a
very wet Tuesday, sodden and too young to clean itself. Succumbed,
and brought it inside ( we already have 5 cats).
Thursday, at
4.00pm rang SPCA, who sent us to Council, who told us about
petsonthenet.
Googled up, lo
and behold, second ad was a perfect match for our wee guy, so
posted a reply at 4.30.
Julie rang at
5ish, and Tiger was on his way home at 5.15!!!!
This has got to
be the net at it’s best.
Liz
PS We’re near the
edge of the Bullock Track and he was spotted wandering on the
Bullock Track that night, which was closed for the Rolling Stones
concert. This really confirms Julie’s idea, that someone going to
the concert picked him up and dropped him on the road, as it’s some
2-3 kms he travelled within hours. I’m just sorry we didn’t take him
in sooner, but it takes a while to cotton on that a cat is totally
lost.
This is just the
best website. I was about to drop flyers, and post ads in dairies,
but wouldn’t have gone as far as Julie’s location.

Buzz is back
after 16 months! (NEW RECORD) |
| |
What worked?
People keeping an eye out..
New Record: LONGEST TIME LOST PET |
| |
This
is an amazing story that I would like to share to people who have
lost their loved pets. Our Buzz who is a beautiful 8.5kg cat
went missing in November 2004 we searched high and low for him and
never gave up hope for his return. My 5 year old still
looked for him when ever we were in the area he went missing from
(our last address) he never gave up. Two nights ago 16
months later Buzz was returned to us, he had turned up back at my
old house and they returned him to us. We are so excited and
happy to have him and have enjoyed him being on my knee again.
It just goes to show that miracles can happen and the faith my
little boy had that he would get his cat back was worth it!!
Yes
it's an amazing story. A friend of my brothers lived 3 houses
away from my old house. Her father was outside working and
spotted him and he is very distinctive he is a moggy cat but has
crystal blue eyes and seal points short hair and 8.5kg, (event
though his mother was black and white). Her father said to her
isn't that your friends sisters cat, and she said it was so they
put him in a rubbish bin of all things (only thing they could
find) and came around to my new house and said they had
something for me and then they opened up the lid and out popped
my beautiful Buzz. Our reaction was shocked I just couldn't
believe it we were amazed I am still amazed about it and keep
waking during the night to check I'm not dreaming.
My son is pleased he's home and it
has like he has never been away he is back to sleeping on our
knees and bed again.

Belly Belly the cat was locked under a neighbours house for 2 - 3
days |
| |
What worked? "Cat
luck" in that the neighbour loved to garden frequently..!
|

Thanks so much for your website, I didn't know it existed until I
called the 24hour vets on Glenfield Rd after Belly Belly didn't
come home to see if my cat had been taken there.
I was
nearly losing my mind with the loss of her. Your advice and
strategy list was very helpful and kept me on track doing things
which you guys have proven works, it is so easy to get lost
oneself with grief and be unproductive. I used your flyer to make
mine.
I had
just made and erected the sign outside the house when I looked up
the pathway and there she was sitting there. I had to look twice
I thought I was seeing a ghost... Anyway after I called her and
she answered - I was so relieved.
She
was shedding fur with stress and hungry and purring like a mad
thing, but otherwise unharmed.
After
some food she was only interested in checking out the property to
see what other cats had been about in her absence and scent
rubbing on everything she could, as well as dust bathing.
I
looked around and saw that the neighbours two houses down had
their bottom underhouse door open, so I went over there and saw a
cute little old lady doing gardening, I introduced myself and
asked her if she had just opened that door, to which she said
'yes, and a cat came flying out" She said that she had last had
the door open on Saturday morning, which was when Belly went
missing. She was very apologetic however I reassured her and
thanked her so much for deciding to do some more gardening today,
otherwise who knows when she would have gone down to open the door
again.
I had
been out at least 6 times walking all around calling and whistling
and listening for her day and night, but hadn't heard her and I
had even stood right by the house where she was.
Well,
I'm so happy to have my baby back, and to have met a new friend
down the road. I'll go and visit her again.
Thanks again for your advice. I've attached a picture of my cute
girl.
Regards, Tania.

Karma was trapped for
four weeks... |
| |
What worked? Cat
survival instincts?!
New Record: PET TRAPPED
FOR THE LONGEST AMOUNT OF TIME |
| |
Here
is our success story :-)
We last saw our beautiful Seal Burmese girl, Karma, on the 11th
March
and were devastated when she didn't come home as she is not the
wandering
type. She would sleep next to me all night with her head on the
pillow - a
real little Mummy's girl!
We advertised on Pets on the Net, SPCA, vets, local papers, fliers
in
letterboxes and lamp posts but no joy.
Yesterday on Good Friday, we heard her distinctive meow and she
walked
in the back door! She must have been locked up somewhere as she was
so thin and emaciated but happy to see us! Karma was actually eating
and meowing at the same time as well as purring!
She is curled up on my knee as I type and I'm a very happy cat
Mummy!
Thanks Pets on the Net for the helpful information and for providing
such a wonderful site :-)
Regards, Diana
PS The nicest thing has been all the heartfelt good wishes - so many
nice
animal people out who know how you feel about your pets :-) |

God Bless Zippy |

New record: Longest Lost pet - 5 years |
| |
(TEN
HANKY JOB AHEAD)
Hi there
When I was 15 years old, my cat Zippy
ran away. My mum said old cats do this sometimes if they are old
and sick. I knew Zippy was only about 7 and he wasn't sick. We
advertised for Zippy but no luck.
I grieved for this cat like it was one of my "human" family
members! I never wanted another cat as I felt like a traitor
getting another cat. But one day I decided I was ready (this was
5 years later) so off I went to the local RSPCA to get a
kitten/cat. I just couldn't do it, even after 5 years I missed
Zippy. Had he died, if so where? If not, where was he?
On my way home with my partner driving, I suddenly screamed at the
top of my lungs for him to stop. Out I hop and slowly walk over
to the most beautiful cat you could ever see! Zippy! After 5
years of wondering if "my baby" was alive, he was! (Zippy was
very identifiable as he had a curled tail from ring worm). I went
into the house and spoke to Zippys new owners. They said "Puss"
had been found in their trailer when they arrived at their new
house. The "new" owners were terrified I wanted Zippy back. Of
course I didn't, he was happy and so was I!
Two years later I saw Zippys new owner outside, so I stopped and
asked "how's Zippy" sadly Zippy had been put to sleep that very
morning. I couldn't help but smile though....Zippy had given 2
owners so much happiness. God bless Zippy!
Had to share this story
thanks
Kelly B
