Why does my pet need an ID tag?
An ID tag hugely increases the chance of your pet being identified sooner and therefore coming home faster, if he or she gets lost or injured. ID tags also lessen the prospect of delays ( = extra worrying time!) and extra costs through your pet being taken to an animal shelter. 

An ID tag on your pets collar says "I'm owned and loved already", to a well meaning person who may otherwise "take in" an unidentified stray and then decide to keep your precious pet, should their attempts to find you, the unknown owner, fail.

Our ID tags start from under $10 and that includes engraving, the ID tag and postage! That's very cheap peace of mind if your pet goes missing. 

Did you know that pounds, SPCA's etc are only required to hold stray pets for seven days? After seven days, they can perfectly legally rehome or even euthanise your pet..!  

Save on fines and shelter fees
An ID tag means it's unlikely your pet will even enter a shelter in the first place, one phone call by the "finder" to the number on their ID tag and they're on the way home to you.

If your pet does end up in a shelter, staff will be able to contact you quickly, well before the seven day time period elapses. An ID tag has literally saved pet's lives in this case.

Microchip for double protection - including cats
We strongly recommend microchipping dogs AND cats in case the collar and tag is somehow accidentally, or maliciously, removed. All SPCAs, vets and pounds scan for a microchip in found and even deceased pets, so please microchip your pet!

Add an extra line
Our quality New Zealand made metal ID tags are engraved with two SHORT lines i.e.) your pet's name and your preferred contact phone number, then mailed directly to you. On some tags one extra line may be added ie a cellphone number, street address or important detail such as "I'm Deaf" (at a cost of $7 per extra line.) The tags that fit an extra line are Funky Fish and Discs at present. Our engraver has to take time to reset his machine to do extra lines, hence the extra cost.
